Nove is design that takes its cue from the city: the arch, a recurring motif of Udine and many Italian cities, is re-proposed as a graphic form, a sign that is both form, design and art.
The project was born from an inspiration, taking as a starting point a process that the Lavagnoli company had on display and that struck me from the beginning. A knurled slab formed by sections of triangular-based prisms, in black and white marble, which changes color depending on how you look at it. A play of light and shadow, black and white that alternate and change the perception of the material.
The shape of the overturned arch has become full, to play on the full / empty but also not to waste the precious material: in fact one of the two legs is made from the cut of the other.
Nove is a mirror seat, like a two-faced Janus has two faces that speak to each other but do not look at each other: it is inspired by the kissing chairs of the Victorian era. Nine in numerology is the symbol of complexity and represents the tension that is inside this object: black and white, positive and negative forms, opposite but close sessions.
The simple and classic style adapts to multiple choices of color and style of furniture and fabrics and the design is useful for all situations in which a seat is required on both sides: clothing stores, museums, waiting rooms.
